Thanks for all of the help along the way everyone. Now that sending checks to The Austral Group in Chile is done the fun part is about to begin! I’m working with The Austral Group to make this class/trip as focused as possible on the Chilean wine industry and when the final revised itinerary is available I will share it with the group.
We’re going to have the same guide as last year: Claudia Olmedo. Claudia has received her sommelier certification and wrote a thesis on Chilean pisco. In addition to accompanying us to all the wineries we will be visiting, Claudia will educate the group on pisco’s unique production process, regulations, and history. Claudia did an amazing job last year and I’m excited that she will be with the group again this year!
In early January I’ll post and distribute a syllabus and organize a meeting in a SSU library computer lab (meeting optional, but recommended). For now, I’ll be posting news on the Chilean wine industry to the facebook group wall and to the #ssuchile twitter hashtag.
Please don’t forget to register for the class through SSU’s School of Extended Education.
It’s not too late for more people/students to take the class and come on the trip! If you have any questions please email me.
